Do It For Yourself
As I seek to transform my life—a metamorphosis of sorts, evolving from one phase to the next—I often find myself questioning the deeper purpose behind this desire. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of crafting the perfect lifestyle, one that sets me up for success in every way possible. But at what cost?
Sure, waking up early, prioritizing movement for my body, carving out moments of reflection for my mind, and practicing gratitude for my soul have done wonders for my overall well-being. Yet, there are days when I wonder: why does any of this truly matter? Who really cares if I’m taking care of my health or not?
It’s tempting to think about how much easier it would be to just sleep in, to stay wrapped in the warmth of my bed until 30 minutes before I need to leave for work, then scramble to dress and rush out the door. But deep down, I know that this isn’t the life I want for myself. I chose to reset, to reflect, and to make these changes not for anyone else, but for me.
I am doing this for myself because, at the end of the day, I am all I have. It’s my responsibility to “self-parent,” to guide myself in a way that aligns with the person I aspire to be. The choices I make each day, whether big or small, shape the path I’m on and the life I’m creating. And so, I choose to do it for myself—to set myself up for success because I deserve it.
I will leave you with a thought to wonder: How are you showing up for yourself today?
