My Current Morning Routine

There’s something undeniably magical about the early morning hours—the quiet, the stillness, that rare moment of solitude where it’s just you and your thoughts, while the world outside still seems to be asleep. The soft sunlight begins to creep through the blinds, birds are chirping in the tree just outside your window, and the dog is patiently curled up by your feet, waiting for that first walk of the day. It’s a time filled with the gentle promise of a fresh start, the kind of morning that feels like a deep, calming breath before the day begins. Sounds dreamy, right?

I used to fantasize about mornings like this, where everything was peaceful and intentional, setting the tone for a productive and stress-free day. But, if I’m being honest, my reality looked a bit different. Some mornings I’d manage to get up early and enjoy that tranquil start, but more often than not, I found myself hitting snooze one too many times, scrambling to get ready, and wishing I had more time to just breathe. Until I decided enough was enough and hit reset.

Over the last few weeks, though, I’ve committed to waking up every morning at 5 AM, determined to set myself up for success. It hasn’t been easy—every morning, the pull of my cozy bed feels stronger than ever. But I’m committed to showing up for myself, pushing past the comfort of those extra minutes of sleep, and working on habits that align with the lifestyle of my best self. It’s a journey, but one that’s already starting to reshape my days in the most beautiful way.

Here’s a look at my 5 AM Morning Routine to set myself up for a productive and nourishing day.

5 AM MORNING ROUTINE

5:00 AM: I wake up, head straight to the washroom, and change into the workout clothes that I’ve laid out the night before. The hardest part is convincing myself to leave the comfort of my bed, but I remind myself that showing up is half the battle.

5:15 AM: I kickstart my day with a pre-workout drink and a glass of warm lemon water with chia seeds—a little ritual that feels both energizing and soothing.

5:30 AM: It’s time to move. I either hit the treadmill for a 30-minute walk at a high incline or, if the weather is nice, I opt for a refreshing outdoor walk with Oscar, our dog. Nothing clears the mind quite like some early morning fresh air.

6:00 AM: After my workout, I pack our lunch bags and fill up coffee mugs for the day. It’s a small but essential task that helps me feel organized and ready to tackle whatever comes next.

6:15 AM: I carve out 15 minutes to read. It’s a quiet moment that lets me ease into the day, feeding my mind before the hustle begins.

6:30 AM: Then it’s time to shower and get ready for work. I take this time to center myself, choosing an outfit that makes me feel confident and prepared.

7:15 AM: Breakfast follows—usually something nourishing and delicious to keep my energy up through the morning.

7:45 AM: By now, it’s time to head out the door and drive to work, feeling accomplished and ready to take on the day.
