Traveling With a 7-Month-Old Baby
How I’m Packing, What’s in My Diaper Bag & My Calm Travel Mindset
Traveling with a baby feels overwhelming… until you realize it’s mostly about preparation, not perfection.
We’re preparing for an upcoming trip with our 7-month-old, and instead of overpacking or spiraling into “what if” scenarios, I’m approaching this the way I approach motherhood lately…gently, intentionally, and realistically.
I’m not a travel expert. I’m a first-time mom learning as I go. But this is exactly how I’m preparing to travel with a baby without bringing our entire house.
If you came here from YouTube, welcome 🤍 Here are all the product links I mentioned, plus a deeper breakdown of how I’m thinking about travel.
First: My Travel Mindset
Before I even open a suitcase, I ground myself in this:
The goal is not to control every moment.
The goal is to feel prepared enough to respond calmly.
Babies don’t need a lot. They need:
Familiarity
Nourishment
Rest
A regulated parent
Everything I pack supports one of those things.
That shift alone makes packing feel purposeful instead of chaotic.
How I’m Approaching Packing
Instead of packing by outfit, I pack by category:
Baby clothing
Feeding supplies
Sleep & comfort
Diapering
Travel-day essentials
This helps me avoid overpacking while still feeling prepared.
Packing organization:
🔗 Packing Cubes

These keep everything separated and make unpacking at our destination much easier.
Baby Clothing for the Week
At 7 months, comfort and ease are everything.
I packed:
Soft onesies
Easy zip sleepers
Layerable pieces
Extra outfits (because spit-ups are real)
One slightly “nicer” outfit
Socks and bibs
And for footwear:

They’re cozy, practical, and easy to slip on for travel days.
I’m not packing for aesthetics. I’m packing for ease.
Feeding & Formula Essentials
Feeding was the part that initially stressed me out the most, so I simplified.
I’m bringing:
Pre-measured formula
The bottles he already uses
Travel cleaning supplies
Simple snacks and purees

Final Thoughts for First-Time Moms Traveling
Traveling with a baby is not about doing everything perfectly.

Creating enough structure
Expecting flexibility
